Talk to a Business Psychologist to Banish Covid Lockdown Blues!
Anxiety, stress, disturbed sleep, difficulty concentrating, feeling like this will never end, children fighting while you try to work, constant bombardment from the media about how terrible things are and they are still going to get worse.
It’s likely that you have experienced at least two or three of the above today alone. Perhaps more, or more severe symptoms than listed. But we’ve done this twice before, you should be a dab-hand at this by now.
“Yes, this is a difficult time for all, but if we all play our part, we’ll get through it”. If that’s not a perfect example of a politician papering over the cracks, then I don’t know what is.
There are two simple truths:
- Many of us have worked out a daily regime that keeps us physically fit and psychologically well-adjusted
- There is a very significant number of people who have, for one reason or another, not managed to do number 1
I may be a Business Owner, but first and foremost, I’m a Psychologist, which means I am trained to help people in distress. Not only that, but I’ve also been doing it for 20 years.
If you are an Employer who has people working from home, the likelihood is that some of them are not coping with the current situation. They may seem fine during a Zoom meeting, but what are they like for the other 23.5 hours in the day.
I would ask the same of anyone working in HR, or any Line Managers who may not have seen their reports face-to-face, in nearly a year.
If any of you have an employee who you know has not been themselves recently, contact me and we can talk about how I can help them. Alternatively, you may want to give your employees/reports the option of a totally confidential conversation with a Psychologist. You may find that some want a lot more than an hour’s conversation.
